Question 1

What is a thunderous charge as a superpower?

Accepted Answer

A thunderous charge is the power to turn a sprint into a weapon: the user builds speed, aims their body like a battering ram, and strikes with a burst of thunder. The 5th Edition spell that shares its name gives the core mechanic: a thunderous battle cry, a straight-line charge, and a melee weapon attack that shoves the target 10 feet or gains a +5 bonus on attack damage. The defining rhythm is three beats: build speed, strike, thunderclap.

Question 2

How is it different from just running fast or flying?

Accepted Answer

Running fast is travel; a thunderous charge is a weapon. Electrokinetic flight is graceful travel, and raw super speed just gets you there. The charge converts the run itself into damage: the melee strike lands with all the stored momentum, and the thunderclap shockwave on impact turns one hit into an area event. Our electrokinetic flight guide covers the ride; this is the ram.

Question 3

How is thunder different from lightning?

Accepted Answer

Lightning is the bolt; thunder is the boom. Lightning is a discharge of electricity that superheats the air, and thunder is the acoustic shock wave that heat produces. Per NOAA, lightning heats air to 54,000°F (30,000°C), five times hotter than the surface of the Sun, and the explosive expansion of that air is what you hear. The flash arrives at light speed; the boom crawls in at the speed of sound.

Question 4

Can real thunder do what fiction shows?

Accepted Answer

In physics, yes, at smaller scale. Real thunder is already a shock wave similar to a sonic boom, and close strikes can rattle windows and shake walls. What fiction adds is carrying the boom with you: thunder on demand, thunder-enhanced strikes, thunder-enhanced mobility, and the guided dash attack that steers the shockwave to its target. No human body can outrun sound, so the real charge remains a glorious fiction.

Question 5

What stops a thunderous charge user?

Accepted Answer

Geometry first: a straight-line charge is predictable, so sidestepping beats it. Barriers of compressed air can meet the charge head-on, and zones of absolute silence smother the boom. The charge needs a run up, so catching the user before the sprint works; Vibration Immunity and sound immunity no-sell the thunder. The unguided charge is dodgeable, which is why the guided version is feared.

Question 6

Who are famous thunderous charge users in fiction?

Accepted Answer

Thunder (DC Comics), Thunder (Teen Titans), ThunderMan.EXE (Mega Man Battle Network 2), Sam-R-I (Dexter's Laboratory), Oya (Yoruba Mythology), Shango (Yoruba Religion), Soga no Tojiko (Touhou Project), Lei Kung (Kung Fu Panda), Storm (Marvel Comics), Takemikazuchi (Dragalia Lost), the Mournfang Cavalry (Warhammer Fantasy), the Hulk, Superman, Wonder Woman, Doomsday, and Zoom, each as depicted in their own universe.
