Question 1

What is a lightning rod as a superpower?

Accepted Answer

A lightning rod is the power to attract, absorb, and redirect lightning through your own body: the living version of Franklin's rod. The fan catalogs file it as a sub-power of Electricity Manipulation, also calling it a Living Lightning Rod, where the user draws bolts toward themselves and routes the charge to ground, back at the enemy, or into their own empowerment.

Question 2

How is it different from an electric shield?

Accepted Answer

An electric shield blocks the bolt with a barrier; a lightning rod invites it in. The shield user never touches the lightning. The rod user becomes its preferred target and channels it through their own body, which makes the rod the braver and the more dangerous of the two powers.

Question 3

How is it different from electricity absorption?

Accepted Answer

Electricity absorption drinks the charge and keeps it as fuel. A lightning rod does the full circuit: attract the bolt, absorb it if useful, then redirect what remains to ground or back at the attacker. Absorption is the middle job; the rod is all three jobs in sequence.

Question 4

Can a real lightning rod attract lightning?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that is exactly what Franklin designed in 1749: a sharpened rod that draws the strike preferentially, then gives it a low-resistance path to ground. A real bolt averages 500 kV at about 50 kilo amperes and lasts only 10 to 50 microseconds, which is why the rod's real skill is routing the current safely, not surviving it.

Question 5

What are the limits of a lightning rod user?

Accepted Answer

They need lightning to catch, so a cloudless sky means no power. The charge must go somewhere, to ground, back at the enemy, or stored, and storage has limits. A bolt they fail to route hurts them like anyone else, and insulated enemies give the redirected charge nowhere to land.

Question 6

Who are famous lightning rod users in fiction?

Accepted Answer

Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Billy Batson/Shazam (DC Comics), Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto), Nora Valkyrie (RWBY), Cole MacGrath (inFamous), Darrin Peter Oswald (The X-Files), the Genoshan mutant Lightning Rod (Marvel Comics), Pokemon with the Lightning Rod ability like Pikachu and Manectric, and Lightning Rod (Skylanders), each as depicted in their own universe.
